Biography
Afric Simone born in Maputo, is a singer, musician and entertainer from Mozambique. He entered the European charts with his first hit "Ramaya" in 1975, which was followed by another well-known song "Hafanana" in 1975. He was very popular during the mid 70's and early 80's on both sides of the iron curtain.
With his first steps in show business in London, he gathered experience for all the gigs he did all over Europe. Eddie Barclay, a French record tycoon went to see a show in Paris and afterwards they immediately signed a contract. Afric Simone speaks German, English, French, Portuguese and various African languages, however his songs are written in the mixture of Swahili and few words from other languages. This idea resulted in a mixture of his own native tongue and European Happy Sound. Recently he settled in Germany and has been appearing in TV shows in France, Italy, Germany and Lithuania.
When asked "What are your plans for the future?" Afric replied, "I want things to keep going on this way".
