Artists from the 60s

One of the most electrifying one-shot artists of the '60s, British singer Arthur Brown briefly set the charts alight in 1968, as well as thrilling audiences with his theatrical performances, which saw him wearing helmets of fire and outlandish costumes.

Barry Ryan is a British pop singer of the 1960s. His greatest hit was "Eloise".

Though he is virtually unknown in the United States, Chris Andrews had a fair amount of success in the UK in the mid-1960s as both a performer and a songwriter for other acts.

In the early and mid-sixties some excellent musicians and groups emerged from the Pub-Club scene and changed the whole music business around. Groups like The Rolling Stones, The Beatles and Moody Blues had their own individual style, which has ensured their lasting popularity. Among this array of new talent was Dave Berry.

As the "voice" behind a decade of classic tunes written with her in mind by the famed team of Burt Bacharach & Hal David, Dionne Warwick established herself as an international superstar in the 1960s and through an incredible body of recorded work that now stretches to over 40 albums.

In 1964, four schoolboys decided to form a band, the outcome of that youthful decision led to the birth and eventual success of one of Europe's most successful bands... The Equals.

Some of the hits are "You’ve Got Your Troubles", "Here It Comes Again" and, continuing into the seventies with more successful releases such as "Storm in a Teacup" and "Freedom Come, Freedom Go".

Gerry Marsden formed the group in the late 1950s with his brother, Fred, Les Chadwick and Arthur McMahon. They rivalled the Beatles early in their career, playing in the same areas of Hamburg, Germany and Liverpool, England.

The mid-60’s music scene was dominated by British Acts, three of which became household names: The Beatles, The Rolling Stones and... Herman's Hermits, one of the most successful groups throughout the world.

Thirty years plus on 60s music and still a big attraction! Finding the genuine, authentic, article to perform it is, however, a much bigger problem.

Ohio Express and the 1910 Fruitgum Co. were two of the leading late-1960s bubblegum rock groups. Under the aegis of producers Jerry Kasenetz and Jeff Katz, both of these rather anonymous bands surfaced repeatedly on the late-1960s pop charts for Buddah Records, spearheading the bubblegum rock craze.

Procol Harum is arguably the most successful "accidental" group creation - that is, a band originally assembled to take advantage of the success of a record created in the studio - in the history of progressive rock.

Led by John Kay (born Joachim Krauledat, April 12, 1944), Steppenwolf's blazing biker anthem "Born to Be Wild" roared out of speakers everywhere in the fiery summer of 1968, John Kay's threatening rasp sounding a mesmerizing call to arms to the counterculture movement rapidly sprouting up nationwide.

The world's all-time favourite girl group, gained this coveted accolade from their dominance of the music charts around the world, over 20 years.

Following a number of highly successful residency engagements at such famous Liverpool clubs as The Mardi Gras and The Cavern, the Jeans were offered many long residency seasons at the Star Club in Hamburg alongside such Liverpool groups as The Beatles, Gerry & The Pacemakers, The Searchers, and The Merseybeats.

The Tremeloes originally formed in 1959 as a 5 piece when the number of rock groups could be counted on one hand but having acquired two electric guitars and an electric bass guitar, made them almost unique. Before the start of their recording career, The Tremeloes toured extensively and gave over 200 broadcasts for the BBC.

Who can forget "Wild Thing". The Troggs have always been remembered for this 1960s anthem but it is just one of their many UK hits: "With A Girl Like You", "I Can't Control Myself", "Any Way That You Want Me", "Give It To Me" and "Love Is All Around".
